We would like to acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land, the Wangal People, and pay our respects to their elders past, present and emerging.
At Woodstock Early Learning Centre, we believe that secure, respectful and reciprocal relationships between children, families and our service are at the heart of learning and growth. These relationships create equitable partnerships where everyone can thrive. We live, learn and play in a rich and diverse community, and respecting and celebrating each person’s culture and individuality enriches both the learning environment and the experiences of the children. This includes embracing and learning from the perspectives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Our centre is a child-safe environment, giving every child a safe space to develop the skills and confidence they need to become active citizens of our world.
We aspire for every child to experience being, belonging and becoming every day, they attend our service. Our educators respond to children’s needs, recognising that every child comes with their own unique talents, skills and abilities. Through thoughtful, meaningful play-based learning, children can explore, develop and grow to their full potential. They gain a strong sense of identity and wellbeing, feel connected to and actively contribute to the world around them, become confident communicators, and grow into engaged and capable learners.
We recognise the environment as the third teacher, approaching learning in a holistic, integrated and interconnected way. Equity, inclusion and high expectations of children are central to our practice. Using assessment and reflection, educators work with children, families and other professionals to set meaningful learning goals. We contribute to our community and the wider world through sustainable practices and provide learning environments that encourage awareness and action around sustainability. Our programs and routines support continuity of learning and view transitions as important learning opportunities. Through reflective practice and ongoing professional development, we are committed to providing a responsive and high-quality education and care service. We believe collaborative leadership and strong teamwork are essential to the ongoing growth and success of our centre.
As a Child Safe Organisation, we actively embed the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations. Our commitment to child safety, wellbeing, cultural safety and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child underpins everything we do.
We aim to nurture children as global citizens, laying the foundations for them to embrace diversity, stand up for justice and contribute meaningfully to our shared world. As children grow, we ensure they carry with them curiosity, compassion, knowledge and a commitment to making the world a better place.
